Saturday, January 5th, 2008 (Last Blog) Dear Friends,
We are very grateful for your support of our recent trip to Zambia, Africa. Without your help, our mission at Kyeye Foundation Home would not have been possible. You’ve responded rapidly to our appeal in the hustle and bustle of the Holiday season preparations. Some of you put aside serious health issues, baby preparations, and busy hospital schedules to assist us. Some of you provided carloads of clothes. Some of you encouraged your children to get involved with this project. Some of you added extra personal touch. There are not enough words to express our gratitude.Through your generosity and our partnership with my sister, the NAPS organization, and the Divine Shepard, we were able to accomplish the following objectives over Christmas break:
- Conduct Vacation Bible School with Bible lessons and crafts for 85 orphans for five days;
- Teach important health lessons as nutrition; preventing diseases as Malaria, and AIDS; and hygiene to both the children, caregivers, and local community;
- Provide over 700 nutritious, lunches including Christmas party;
- Distribute clothing, toothbrushes and toothpaste, goodies, and Bibles for 85 orphans on Christmas Day;
- Distribute small gifts for teachers and helpers at the orphanage;
- Donate school supplies, game boards, and sporting goods to the orphanage;
- Provide additional funds to the orphanage for 1200 lunches.
- Raise awareness of nurturing orphans, with three national Zambian newspapers through interviews on Christmas Day.
We wished that you could have seen the children’s smiles as they received their gift bags on Christmas. We wished that you could have heard the silence in the rooms as the kids hungrily gulped their lunches. We wished that you could have witnessed the transformation, as we brought hope to these young people.We plan to follow up with this orphanage. For all the items that we were not able to squeeze into our twelve luggages, we plan to send a bulk shipment to my sister in Zambia soon. This is a priority for us.
Again, we want to take this moment to thank each one of you for your heart felt response. Your compassion is very evident. The blessings found in Isaiah 58:7-12 (NIV) belong to you today:
“and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. The LORD will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins
and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.” May 2008 be filled with much joy and peace for you and your families!
