When I consider thy heaven, the work of thy fingers, the moon and stars, which thou hast ordained; what is man that thou are mindful of him? Psalm 8:3, 4

We spent a lovely weekend retreat in Livingston. After a long bus ride through rural villages, the nice accommodations were refreshing. Livingston is a tourist town. It is named after the reknown Missionary and Doctor, David Livingston.   The Victoria Falls is nearby this historic town.

Victoria FallsThis magnificent falls is considered the largest Water Fall in the world. It spans one mile along Zambia-Zimbabwe border. It provides a rich ecosystem support to vegetation and game life.    There are no words to adequately describe the beauty of Victoria Falls. Even pictures don’t do justice. All we can say is that it felt like we were entering the sanctuary of the Most High. We felt God’s presence. We needed this quiet moment badly after our first encounter with the children at the Orphanage.   We felt God assuring of His presence in this beautiful country with its ups and low points. My first glance at the Great Falls was a fulfillment of a fifth grade dream. In some sense, it has taken a lifetime to complete this pilgrimage.

As beautiful as the Falls were, the presence of wildlife was breathtaking. Even at the hotel, we had monkeys hanging around. One hungry monkey stole a left-over hamburger from a table in a outdoor restaurant. The Zebras were so cool with their naturally painted stripes.

On our boat ride, we were clamoring for a glimpse for the adorable hippos, the grumpy crocodiles, the clever elephants, the towering giraffes, unusual birds and many animals. Ride down Zambezi roadOur quest took us to a boat ride on the Zambesi River and a game park in Botswana. At one point, we were at a crossing point between four countries: Zambia/Botswana/Zimbabwe/Namibia. How awesome! With each sighting of the animals, we felt that we won a lottery. This Edenic experience will forever be etched in our minds. I’m grateful that we had taken pictures of the animals along the way.

Leaving Livingston was difficult. We realized that reality was waiting for us in Lusaka. However, we felt assured with God’s presence.
